What to check
- Lot or sample identity. Does the supplier explain how the report connects to the inventory?
- Issuing laboratory. Is there an independently verifiable contact route?
- Report or accession number. Can the laboratory confirm the record using its verification process?
- Methods and results. Are units, limits and the reported scope clear?
- Supporting data. Ask for the trace or relevant data where a result needs clarification.
- Document integrity. Ask the issuer about suspected alterations rather than relying on appearance.
A useful request
Ask the supplier“Please share the certificate for the lot I would receive, its report number, and the issuing laboratory's verification process.”
Do not overread a red flag
Two shipments can come from one lot and use one valid report. Multiple peaks do not automatically contradict a purity calculation. A summary certificate may have supporting data available separately. Ask for clarification and direct verification before reaching a conclusion.
Know what an authentic report still cannot prove
Authenticity does not expand the test scope. A genuine identity or purity report does not establish sterility, every possible contaminant or clinical suitability. Scale does not test sterility.
